Born in Stone comments 2015 Exposure********** Stephen Lack · McGill University Algis Kemezys continues to amaze. This series integrating prehistoric rock formations with the classical sculptures from our civilization's birth is a wonderful addition to his terrific body of work! Once again************* Erella La Beaubella · OCAD University I love this work. The manipulation of content, colour, classical imagery with modern sensibilities makes it compelling to look at and to come back to. Bravo!**************** Algis Thomas Kemezys · Montreal, Quebec Erella, You have just made my day. Thanks with good wishes to you and yours!************* Cathy Young · Chief Executive Officer at Self-Employed Wow this artist is totally amazing. AMAZING! I am going to post this on my Facebook page for all my friends to vote for Algis Thomas Kemezys! I have almost 5000 friends so here goes! He soo deserves it. The textures, the colours, the LOVE that goes into his work is stunning! Ok my friends! VOTE FOR ALGIS!************** Maurice Richard Libby · Divo at Self-Employed Algis has a fertile imagination and an inspired vision. His work is well worth spending time on.************** Penny Ringsleben · Owner of Brunos. at Brunos - A dog's life and explorations on Corfu. Algis' work is absolutely wonderful! I live in Greece and usually cannot imagine anyone being able to make the sculptures more beautiful but he has accomplished this with his amazing, imaginative use of coloring. Very talented artist. I am so glad to have pleasure to escape into the world of Greek art from a different way to view it. I hope one of these days he will have an exhibit in Kerkyra.************* Rozie Barnes Algis Thomas Kemezys-brings us visions and images of prehistoric rock formations with his masterful eye and sense of intimacy with everything he photographs. I have known this amazing artist for too many years to be counting & every time I see his work, I am beyond awestruck!! He certainly deserves this fabulous award and most certainly has my vote!!************** Lenore Zann · Deputy House Leader (NDP Caucus) & Critic for Status of Women; Communities, Culture & Heritage; Community Services; Education & Early Childhood Development; Human Rights Commission; Aboriginal Affairs; Seniors; Disabled Persons; and Agriculture at Government of Nova Scotia wow! Thought-provoking and deeply spiritual - these images remind us of the origins of Man and that although we may not be "made of stone" we are in fact one with the land upon which we were born and to which we will some day return.*************** Jas Bea · Launceston College I have followed Algis's work for many a year now he never fails to amaze me with his talents always excellent work and I look forward to always seeing more from this amazingly talented man****************** Jas Bea · Launceston College Algis Thomas Kemezys you are most welcome Like · **************** Pearl L. Dacks · Toronto, Ontario Algis, work is getting more and more interesting and illuminating, it's a new and more comprehensive photography that I see happening...so delighted with this more introspective work...best of luck in this competition...pld***************** John Frizzell · Toronto, Ontario Amazing work. Congratulations on the show....here's to many more.***************** Anne Nayer · CEO at Coach Paradise Algis' work is stunning and continues to delight and amaze me with it's artistry and deeply considered juxtaposition of the ancient and the new, the universal and the personal, the serious and the whimsical. I love this body of of work and can't wait to see what he will come up with next.****************** Vijendra Rao I have followed Algis Thomas Kemezys for close to a quarter century now, barring a few years of gap in between when we were out of touch. I first got introduced to his "Holy Cow" series in 1992-93. Pictures from that series bore the Algis stamp of originality and authority. Then was his "Melting Moments" (I hope I remember the title of the series right), which was creatively a giant step, even by Algis' high standard, thematically futuristic and realistic, and result-wise spectacular and mind-numbing. Now, his "Born of Stone" series marks a significant departure for Algis in that he continues his stunning experimentation. The result is there for all to see. Without any hesitation, I vote for this great photo-artist. All the best Algis.**************** Ayşe Erbil · St. George's Austrian High School Thıs ıs Mıke Levy on Ayse's page. I just want to say that, for me, Algıs' work has condensed mıllenıa ınto a moment. He has a vısıon unseen by no other. What took the unıverse vast eons to create and humankınd centurıes to form Algıs has combıned to make dazzlıng combınatıons of antıdeluvıan stone and Hellenıc genıus unımagıned by any other artıst alıve or dead. Bravo to the man who has seen what no other has!****************** Shel Goldstein · Actress, Represented by Jordan & Associates Talent Management, at Independent Performing Artist Classic beauty reimagined / reimaged / enhanced with Algis ' unique quirky aesthetic. Myth blended forward into the Present, advancing backwards and laterally as well as forward; shimmering ghostly in supernatural light, calling us to re-engage.************** Surendra Nathan · Mumbai, Maharashtra, India Algis is a great friend of mine. During his last visit to India about a decade ago, he had put up a photographic exhibition at the renowned Tata Theatre in Mumbai on the theme “HOLY COW”, which had received overwhelming response from the public as well as from the media. These photographs depicted the cows of India in their natural habitat, cows nonchalantly roaming through India unattended, cows being worshiped, cows in Stone (like the famous Nandi Bull), cows being lovingly bathed in the holy Ganges, cows having been dressed in festive attires, etc. etc. were all soul-stirring - artistical...See More************* Peter Starr · President at Velocitas Managment Inc Algis is devoted to his work, his attention to detail is impressive combined with a great sense of color.************ Jon Kalina Algis Kemezys is one of the most original and talented photograhers I've had the pleasure to encounter. His creativity is only matched by the superb professionalism and technical expertise that he brings to his art.************* Roberta Lynn Garber · Works at Self-Employed Magnificent work !!!! So inspiring smile emoticon Alan Tyler · Mississauga, Ontario Algis this is so amazing. I truly love your work. The beauty of the work and title Born in Stone. Good luck with it. best wishes. Alan Tyler*************** Jonathan Gray · Calgary, Alberta Such remarkable work! The power and depth of these eternal archetypes are so fully brought to life here. The presence of the gods and godesses becomes so very vital in these interpretations and they can be felt deeply in the blood and and essence of all of us.************ Milanka Milaan Maricic · Selling clouds at Jova danguba Hi my friend Apollon... I hope to see your Gods and Goddesses in Louvre soon! You inspire my writings and imagination every day again and again! ************* Thom Ayres Amazing imagery, great use of color! ***************** Lisa Solod · Savannah, Georgia Stunning!!!! Thank you.************ Susanne Freeborn · President at San Francisco Homestay Inc. Wonderful work************* Mary Katherine Manuel Absolutely amazing and totally beautiful. Hoping you win.************* Mary Katherine Manuel Best wishes again, I am sure you are the best in the competition.********* Buzz Burza · I am my own career at Self Algis is someone I've known for more than 30 years and his work continues to amaze and astound me. I consider it an honour to know someone whose work is considered worthy of the Louvre. ************* Bob Williams · Butte, Montana Very awesome my friend!! Love them all!!! *************** Daniela Cerrato thanks for all the beauty inside your works. **************** Claire Talltree · Snohomish, Washington I discovered Algis Kemezys a year ago, and have followed him ever since. His juxtapositions of stone and stone-art are amazing... I hope to see lots more of his work in the future. What a talented artist! ************* Susan Mitchell I love the interaction between light, color, and line in these visual constructions. They almost seem to be lit from within with sculptures emerging with that light. ************** Connie Mack · San Francisco, California Algis' multifaceted expressions impress me deeply. His work should be heralded. *************** Rozie Barnes I have known Algis Thomas Kemezys for many years. He never ceases to amaze me with his awesomeness. What an eye he has! Algis, I am wishing you the best of luck in this contest. You certainly deserve top prize!! Love you dearly!! *************** Carolyna Lovely · Songwriter at Pollyanna Publishing Algis Thomas Kemezys has reimagined a classic style and created something original and inspirational. these works move me to feelings of knowing - as though a memory that has been with me for centuries is bubbling to the surface and if I look at this work long enough the knowing will explode in me. I find this very exciting. Continuedsuccess and creation. Carolyna Lovely Bianca Neve These images are lovely! Sugith Varughese · Writer/actor/director/playwright at Film and Television Industry Fascinating and moving photographs. I hope you get to bring this show to Canada. Mary Holden · Central High School If da Vinci had been able to use a camera, he'd have manifested art similar to what Algis has done in this series. Somewhere, the soul of da Vinci is smiling. Somewhere, the soul of "David" is smiling too. Think about it: stone captures the action of the sculptor as he or she carries out a new vision. A camera simulates the human eye--and the brain's receptivity. Kemezys uses the spirit, the feeling, in both stone and machine to bring a new vision to humans of the Earth. Let us celebrate this creativity as we dance in his light, as we study in the comet's tail of his glow. Ray Mond · Photographer at Ray Mond PHOTOGRAPHIE Very nice work, I voted with pleasure............. https://ray-mond.see.me/exposure2015 Like · Reply · 1 · May 28, 2015 11:22am Osaka Ourredyarn · Studying at Unemployed truly amazing. elevates photography to the heights of oils and sculptures as an art appreciation Debra A Morse · Of counsel at Galente Ganci, APC This work is so inspired and very beautiful! It's deserving of lots of attention. James Nantais · Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, CA Stunning, I love Algis attention to detail of shadow and ligjht. The mix of modern and ancient all make me feel the history, and both cold and warmth. Beautiful collection. I would truly love to see these in person, as they feel so dimensional. Bill Schwartz As a nature photographer, I am always looking for hidden images in tree bark, cloud formations, and naturally occurring crystalline formations. It is like a "Magic Eye" picture when I see something that others might not notice. Algis does a magnificent job in finding hidden images in nature, and I always enjoy seeing the fruit of his labor. Lisa Murray Kern · Works at Humor and Parenting Writer I'm not sure if the stone brings the images to life or if the images bring life to the stone. Either way, Algis has found an artful marriage among these different media and all of us are able to enjoy it. Pat Langner · Hooman at Tobyland Love the colours, shapes, & perspectives. Gorgeous! Ali Velioğlu · Iş yeri sahibi at Bej Dekorasyon You created a re-born art by blending nature's completeness with monuments extanding from the depths of history,Algis. Congragulations for arousing our aesthetics perception. Natalie K Munden · Works at Writer Congratulations on this beautiful, thought-provoking show. The sculptors each saw the figures, beauty and effects of light before they made the first chisel into stone. In this series you "return" the artists' materials from where they came. Brings to mind "ashes to ashes," "Dust to dust." Everything returns to the beginning. Elizabeth Lueda Amerine · Works at Self-Employed I love the concept of integrating stone scupltures with uncut stone which speaks to the unseen beauty found in the artist's inner vision. We could all learn to appreciate the unseen by seeing this wonderful collection. Dorinda Florida Algis works allows one to pretend to be the original sculptor and to perhaps some idea of how they envision something beautiful in a rock. Terri Davis · Oakdale High You show what will stand forever and it is beautiful! Maristella Tagliaferro · Autore at Treccani.it Algis Kemezys brings us to a Golden Age, his works open our heart vision to a better world m Georgios Xasiotis · Works at Self-Employed I saw your foto's and they are exceptionally inspired !! Yes, i will vote positive and comment it, for you. I am amazed by the adoption of idea, natural matter (marlbe/stone) sculptures, on natural (stone) canvas. Both natural elements on the foto's, are genuine prodocts of Greek soil, the Greek scupturers and the marmor as also the stonerry Greek landscape, that made these formations of human and nature. Keep on the exceptionally artistic giving. Kathy Cleat Quirion · Kennebec Valley As always, you are my eyes to the world of culture! Nino Sanna · Rome, Italy Great work!! Amazing!! https://ninosan.see.me/exposure2015 Paula Sciuk · Unencumbered Creative at Visual Artist An intruiging concept in merging the Grecian sculpture over stone slabs - great depth and beautiful colors!! I am of course reminded of the variety of quotes of Michelangelo concerning releasing the subject from the marble. My favorite is "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free." Algis captures the power and grace of civilizations great sculptures and enhances them embedding them with their origin, massive stone. I am partial to works that try to put together mass and grace. The sculptures add a lightness to the serious stone grottos and faces so well chosen by Mr. Kemezys. While stern I do see some humor here too. Algis Kemezys has added modern technology to the mix to produce some truly beautiful creations. I am a painter and I have been inspired by his photographic creativity to see what would happen if a painter did something similar. He has inspired me to do a series of exercises in oils and pen, to mix the ages and genres in interesting ways. People see my sketchbook and comment on it...or, they ask a question and I tell them about Algis's work and send them to this site. They invariably come back and say, "wow" what amazing work. I think the idea and the technological skill mixed with this creative idea is quite special. For me it's an exercise to get better. Your work, Algis, is what one shoud aspire to.
